SkinPen Microneedling
As our body’s largest organ, our skin is highly resilient, capable of healing and rejuvenating itself through the production of collagen and elastin proteins. By creating small “micro-wounds,” SkinPen microneedling utilizes your skin’s natural repair mechanisms to tighten and smooth skin and restore a more radiant, youthful appearance.
As a nationally-recognized SkinPen expert with over 15 years of experience performing cosmetic skin treatments in the Denver area, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Gregory A, Buford is proud to offer SkinPen microneedling at his Lone Tree office.
Before you meet with Dr. Buford for your consultation, consider filling out our face and skin self-assessment. By sharing how you see yourself, we can best evaluate your aesthetic goals and determine an appropriate treatment plan for you.
As the first and only FDA-cleared microneedling device, SkinPen® Precision creates a series of microscopic needle punctures in the skin to stimulate its natural healing response. This response causes the skin to produce collagen and elastin, two key proteins responsible for maintaining skin’s firmness, elasticity, and youthful appearance. SkinPen microneedling treatments can be customized for your skin type and goals by adding on various booster serums, like vitamin C, salicylic acid, hyaluronic acid, and others.
Our Denver-area patients love SkinPen microneedling for its ability to effectively treat the following skin concerns:
While many of our Denver microneedling patients benefit from just one SkinPen treatment, we recommend patients undergo a series of 3-4 treatments spaced one month apart for best results.
In researching a variety of microneedling options, we have found SkinPen to be the most reliable microneedling device within the aesthetics industry. While our patients appreciate SkinPen’s consistent results, our providers appreciate its precision and the lack of drag that is associated with many other microneedling devices.
By stimulating your body’s own natural collagen production, SkinPen microneedling can help you achieve smoother, firmer, and healthier-looking skin. It can also reduce your pore size, helping to prevent acne breakouts.
Best of all, SkinPen requires no surgery, injections, anesthesia, or downtime, allowing you to get back to your daily activities immediately following your microneedling treatment.
Most of our patients describe SkinPen microneedling as mildly uncomfortable but not painful. To minimize any discomfort, your esthetician will apply a topical numbing ointment to your skin before treatment, and OTC medications may be recommended following treatment.
As a Plastic Surgeon of 20 years, I have seen so many devices promise and not deliver. That is not the case with SkinPen. What you see is what you get, and our patients appreciate that. - Dr. Buford
In the first 24 hours after your SkinPen microneedling treatment, your skin will be very sensitive, as it will be in the process of cellular turnover. During this period, it’s important to protect your skin from direct sunlight, harsh chemicals, and any abrasive materials. You should wear a high-SPF, broad-spectrum sunscreen when spending time outdoors and consider covering up with a wide-brimmed hat.
Some redness is normal for the first few days following SkinPen microneedling treatment and should quickly dissipate on its own. You can resume your normal activities immediately after treatment, though we advise patients to wait 24 hours before applying makeup.
Since SkinPen treatments create microchannels within your skin’s layers, your skin will be much more receptive to additional skincare treatments in the days following your treatment. This is the perfect time to apply medical-grade skincare products and consider other cosmetic skincare treatments, such as Botox® or dermal filler injections, customized facials, and/or light chemical peels. Your aesthetic specialist can help you create a customized skincare plan to enhance your SkinPen microneedling treatment during your appointment.
