Brown Recluse Spiders have been known to bite their victims and then seemingly disappear. In my residency, we saw a few of these bites but never actually identified the culprit. In these cases, the diagnosis was made on the classic “bulls-eye” appearance of the injury.
A recent case was published in which a woman sustained a recluse spider bite to her ear and ultimately developed breakdown of her ear cartilage–something that we really haven’t seen until now.
